Born in france in 1772 Marie-Anne Adelaide Lenormand was gifted from an early age. In her 14th year she claimed to have obtained her first deck of cards from local Gypsies who taught her how to read their meanings. Throughout her life she predicted the fate of many important events including the marriage, rise & fall of Napoleon.
Marie Anne Lenormand is considered the greatest cartomancer of all time and influenced a wave of French Cartomancy. Two years after her death in 1843, a deck of cards featuring Lenormand, was published. Over time many more cards have been created using her name. The oldest surviving deck of Marie-Anne Lenormand cards dates from 1800s and can be viewed in British Museum.
In 1993 I spent 6 months in Brazil and was fortunate enough to meet a wonderful woman Luciola Alves do nascomento who would become my beloved spiritual mother and teacher.
During our time together she taught me the art of reading Gypsy cards and also confided that she had a visionary dream about our meeting. Luciola after the dream had decided to retire from readings but wanted to pass her wisdom onto me.
The cards she was using were Lenormand cards.
As we know there are no coincidences and I feel privileged that being French I stumbled onto Luciola Alves who was also French and would teach me the history and gifts of Marie-Anne Adelaide Lenormand
